Chandrayaan-3

In an exciting development, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Wednesday announced a significant achievement in its Chandrayaan-3 mission.

The spacecraft successfully reduced orbit, bringing it closer to the Moon. This accomplishment was highlighted by ISRO Chairman S Somanath, who expressed confidence in the mission's progress.

Chandrayaan-3, India's third lunar exploration mission, aims to build upon the successes of its predecessors, Chandrayaan-1 and Chandrayaan-2. The spacecraft is set to land on the Moon on August 23, following a series of meticulously planned manoeuvres. Chairman Somanath reassured that all systems operated as intended, emphasising the satellite's excellent health.

In addition to the Chandrayaan-3 updates, Chairman Somanath shared news of the successful launch of GSAT-24, a communication satellite. This achievement underscores India's expanding prowess in satellite communication technology and strengthens its position as a prominent player in space exploration.

The successful insertion phase of Chandrayaan-3 also garnered international recognition. Simon Wong, the High Commissioner of Singapore to India, congratulated ISRO and India for the milestone. High Commissioner Wong commended the mission's captivating photographs of the lunar surface, showcasing the advancements in space imaging technology.

ISRO's dedication to transparency and progress is evident as they released the first images captured by Chandrayaan-3 during its lunar orbit insertion on August 5, 2023. These stunning visuals provide a glimpse of the Moon from the spacecraft. The mission's Twitter account shared, "The Moon, as viewed by Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft during Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI)."

According to ISRO, Chandrayaan-3 entered lunar orbit after travelling approximately two-thirds of the distance to the Moon since its launch on July 14.

As Chandrayaan-3 continues its journey towards the Moon's surface and GSAT-24 bolsters India's communication satellite capabilities, the nation's strides in scientific and technological advancements reach remarkable heights.
