Vikram Lander

In a significant development, the Vikram Lander has been put into sleep mode. Following a series of ground-breaking in-situ tests by the ChaSTE, RAMBHA-LP, and ILSA payloads at a new site on the lunar surface, the maneuver took place at roughly 08:00 Hrs. IST on Monday.

At present, the battery is at maximum charge, and the solar panel has been positioned to harness the incoming sunlight at the upcoming sunrise on September 22, 2023. However, the receiver remains active, awaiting the potential resumption of its mission.

Successful transmission of the data collected from these tests back to Earth has given scientists and researchers invaluable new insights about the Moon's environment and composition.

At this time, the Vikram Lander's receivers are still functioning to ensure communication readiness even if the in-situ experiment payloads have been shut down. The "awakening" of Vikram and its rover Pragyan is the next major milestone for the mission, which is expected to occur on or around September 22, 2023.
