In a significant development, the Vikram Lander has been put into sleep mode. Following a series of ground-breaking in-situ tests by the ChaSTE, RAMBHA-LP, and ILSA payloads at a new site on the lunar surface, the maneuver took place at roughly 08:00 Hrs. IST on Monday.
At this time, the Vikram Lander's receivers are still functioning to ensure communication readiness even if the in-situ experiment payloads have been shut down. The "awakening" of Vikram and its rover Pragyan is the next major milestone for the mission, which is expected to occur on or around September 22, 2023.
This achievement marks a new remark in India's planned lunar mission, with Chandrayaan-3 ready to carry on elucidating our nearest heavenly neighbor.
