Chennai Super Kings beat RCB in the first match of IPL 2024

First IPL 2024 match between the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru took place at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Chennai Super Kings beat RCB

CSK won the season opener against RCB by a margin of six wickets. Mustafizur Rahman claimed four wickets in four overs for 29 runs to help CSK. At Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, March 22, the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru squared off in the inaugural IPL 2024 match. In front of their home crowd, CSK beaten RCB by six wickets in the season opener. RCB made the decision to bat first and in 20 overs, they scored 173 runs at the expense of six wickets. But in the end, the total was insufficient because CSK took just four wickets to achieve the required total in 18.4 overs.

On his IPL debut, Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube led CSK with 37 runs from 15 balls. He was added as an impact player in the second innings, and Dube finished unbeaten with 34 runs from 28 balls. Alongside former captain Ravindra Jadeja, who struck 25 runs off 17 deliveries, he combined 66 runs for the fifth wicket.

Earlier at the time of the first half, Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman took four wickets for 29 runs on his IPL debut for the CSK. He thrown awayFaf du Plessis (35), ViratKohli (21), RajatPatidar (0), and Cameron Green (28).
