In anticipation of the upcoming Chhath Puja, a significant Hindu festival observed with fervor in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, devotees can mark their calendars for the four-day celebration starting on November 17, 2023. According to the Panchang, the festival kicks off with Nahay-Khay on the 17th, where devotees bathe, don new attire, and partake in vegetarian meals after a day of fasting. This ritual signifies the initiation of the revered Chhath Puja.

Kharna, the second day of Chhath Puja, falls on November 18. On this day, fasting individuals break their fast with sweet food, specifically rice pudding made from jaggery. Notably, salt is abstained from during this ritual. The Evening Arghya, a pivotal event in the Chhath Puja festivities, is slated for November 19.
