In anticipation of the upcoming Chhath Puja, a significant Hindu festival observed with fervor in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, devotees can mark their calendars for the four-day celebration starting on November 17, 2023. According to the Panchang, the festival kicks off with Nahay-Khay on the 17th, where devotees bathe, don new attire, and partake in vegetarian meals after a day of fasting. This ritual signifies the initiation of the revered Chhath Puja.

Kharna, the second day of Chhath Puja, falls on November 18. On this day, fasting individuals break their fast with sweet food, specifically rice pudding made from jaggery. Notably, salt is abstained from during this ritual. The Evening Arghya, a pivotal event in the Chhath Puja festivities, is slated for November 19. Devotees converge at the riverbanks, offering Arghya (water) to the setting sun. The picturesque scene includes decorations featuring fruits, thekua, and rice laddu.

The grand culmination of Chhath Puja occurs on the fourth day, Saptami Tithi, on November 20. Devotees observe a 36-hour fast, concluding with the offering of Arghya to the rising sun at sunrise. This sacred act signifies the end of the fast, and the devotees break their fast by consuming Prasad.

Chhath Puja, deeply rooted in Hindu traditions, holds immense spiritual significance, emphasizing devotion, rituals, and a connection with nature.
