In a significant announcement, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma declared the intention to hand over the state's only airport, Lengpui, to either the Airports Authority of India (AAI) or the Adani Group. The decision stems from a strategic vision for the airport's comprehensive development and efficient management.

Returning from Kolkata, Lalduhoma, in a media statement in Aizawl, highlighted discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the long-standing Assam-Mizoram border dispute. Expressing eagerness for a peaceful resolution, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to replace violence with constructive dialogue at inter-state borders.

The announcement holds significance against the backdrop of the violent clash on July 26, 2021, when Assam and Mizoram police exchanged fire near Vairengte village on National Highway 306. The incident resulted in six Assam Police personnel losing their lives and numerous injuries.

Lalduhoma's emphasis on transferring the airport's management aligns with the broader goal of fostering collaboration for regional development. This move aims to enhance connectivity, infrastructure, and overall economic prospects for Mizoram. The potential involvement of AAI or Adani Group indicates a strategic approach to leverage expertise in airport management for mutual benefits.

As Mizoram seeks a transformative handover of Lengpui airport, the decision echoes a commitment to peace and prosperity in the region. The proposed shift aligns with a broader vision for strategic partnerships that can contribute to economic growth and border stability.

In short, the Mizoram government's decision to transfer Lengpui airport to AAI or Adani Group reflects a proactive step toward comprehensive development and a diplomatic resolution of border disputes. This move falls under the business category, as it involves strategic partnerships and economic considerations.
