During escalating communal unrest and violence in the region, all educational institutions in Sohna, Gurugram, are set to close on August 2, 2023. The decision was made after violent incidents in the neighboring Nuh district of Haryana, which caused road blockades by anti-social elements, posing a threat to peace and public order.
In a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and avoid any untoward incidents, the District Magistrate, Nishant Kumar Yadav, issued an order to close all government and private educational institutions in Sohna subdivision for the specified date. This includes schools, colleges, and coaching institutes, while other parts of Gurugram will resume their operations as usual.
Meanwhile, Gurugram witnessed further communal violence when a mob targeted an eatery and adjacent shops in Badshahpur. The mob specifically vandalized shops belonging to a particular community and chanted religious slogans near a mosque, heightening tensions in the area. Prompt action by authorities led to the control of the fire and a temporary closure of the Badshahpur market.
The violence first erupted on Monday after an attack on a VHP procession in the neighboring Nuh district, resulting in five fatalities so far. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, aiming to restore peace and prevent any further escalation of violence in the affected areas.
