Amid the rapid integration of Generative AI (GenAI) within India's hybrid cloud infrastructure, concerns loom over data confidentiality and privacy, as revealed by a comprehensive IBM report. This report spotlights the evolving landscape, stating that about 64% of Indian organizations using hybrid clouds have implemented formal, company-wide policies concerning GenAI usage. Despite recognizing GenAI's potential, leaders are grappling with the inherent challenges related to safeguarding sensitive data and information.

The survey underscores the pivotal role of GenAI within hybrid clouds, identifying it as a potent force. However, it also illuminates a pressing issue: the imperative need to address concerns around data confidentiality. The essence lies not just in leveraging the advantages but also in navigating the intricacies to ensure the secure handling of data within these frameworks.

Beyond the promise of GenAI, leaders emphasize the significance of addressing challenges in workforce readiness and expertise. A significant barrier identified in the report is the scarcity of skilled professionals adept in cloud technologies. This skills gap poses a formidable challenge, with 68% of business leaders in India flagging it as a substantial hurdle in their digital transformation journey, surpassing the global average of 58%.

While India leads in endeavors to bridge the cloud skills gap, outpacing other nations in efforts to address this shortfall, the integration of GenAI introduces fresh hurdles. The report highlights the growing demand for data processing power to handle AI workloads, posing new challenges for organizations seeking to minimize their carbon footprint.

Moreover, the integration of GenAI in hybrid clouds aligns with sustainability goals, as noted by 43% of decision-makers who utilize cloud systems to monitor and manage internal sustainability objectives. Additionally, 44% leverage cloud capabilities to oversee sustainability initiatives for third-party entities.

The findings accentuate the multifaceted nature of challenges arising from GenAI integration within hybrid clouds, calling for a strategic balance between harnessing its potential and ensuring robust data protection measures.
