Congress party leader Mallikarjun Kharge has expressed dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent speech in the Lok Sabha during the no-confidence motion debate.
Addressing the concerns raised by the I.N.D.I.A. bloc against the central government, Kharge accused PM Modi of evading questions about ethnic violence and instead diverting attention to unrelated matters.
During the Lok Sabha session, PM Modi responded to the no-confidence motion with a detailed speech that focused on critiquing the Congress party's actions in the government since India's independence.
In his address, he also took a playful dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent 'Mohabbat ki Dukaan' (Shop of Love) comment made during his own speech on the no-confidence motion.
Kharge took issue with PM Modi's speech and questioned the establishment of schools. He pointed out that both PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had received their education in government schools that were built prior to Modi's tenure in office. This criticism came as Kharge addressed attendees at the 'Bharose Ka Sammelan' event organized by the state Congress in Chhattisgarh.
Furthermore, Kharge scrutinized PM Modi's comparison between the unrest in Manipur and the situation in Chhattisgarh.
He expressed disappointment over the comparison and called it an insult to the people of Chhattisgarh. Kharge also highlighted that PM Modi appeared to be avoiding visiting Manipur, speculating that the Prime Minister's preoccupation with election campaigns could be the reason behind his absence.
PM Modi's speech had elicited strong reactions from both sides of the aisle, with his supporters praising his pointed criticisms of the Congress party, while his detractors accused him of evading critical issues.
