Criminal Gufran, Wanted for Multiple Crimes, UP STF


Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh - A criminal named Gufran, who was wanted in connection with numerous cases of murder and dacoity, was fatally shot in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Tuesday morning in Kaushambi.


The encounter occurred at approximately 5 am near the Samda sugar mill of Manjhanpur, Kaushambi, when the STF, acting on specific intelligence, cornered Gufran.


In the ensuing exchange of fire, Gufran sustained gunshot wounds and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. However, the medical team pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Gufran, also known as Mo. Gufran, had various criminal records, with over 13 registered cases of murder, loot, and robbery against him in the districts of Pratapgarh and Sultanpur. Recognizing the threat posed by Gufran, the Prayagraj and Sultanpur police had declared a substantial reward of Rs 1,25,000 for information leading to his arrest.

 

Commenting on the encounter, SP Kaushambi Brijesh Srivastava stated, "A criminal identified as Mo. Gufran was killed in an encounter with the UP STF near the Samda sugar mill of Manjhanpur, Kaushambi. He was carrying a reward of Rs 1,25,000."

 

The successful operation by the UP STF has dealt a severe blow to criminal activities in the region, bringing relief to the residents of Pratapgarh, Sultanpur, and surrounding areas who had been living in fear due to Gufran's reign of terror. The STF's swift action demonstrates their commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring the safety and security of the citizens.
