The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has achieved a significant breakthrough by dismantling a cross-border weapon smuggling network operating in Mizoram, India. The operation resulted in the apprehension of a key suspect, Lalngaihawma, a resident of the Mamit area in Mizoram.

According to an NIA spokesperson, the arrest followed crucial intelligence inputs regarding the operations of a well-organized and large-scale illegal arms and ammunition supply network. Lalngaihawma, the key accused, was tracked down in Aizwal, Mizoram, where he was actively engaged in trafficking arms, ammunition, and explosive materials.

The NIA spokesperson revealed that the accused was not only involved in illegal activities within the northeastern states but also collaborated with various operatives, including insurgent groups situated across the international border. This disclosure unveils the intricate connections and collaborations that facilitated the cross-border smuggling network.

As part of their conspiracy, the official disclosed that the network had already distributed illicit terror-related hardware to various individuals both within the country and abroad. These weapons and explosives are suspected to have been utilized in violent terrorist acts and criminal activities across different regions.

The agency remains vigilant in addressing the challenges posed by cross-border smuggling activities and continues to work towards ensuring the safety and security of the nation.

In conclusion, the successful intervention in Mizoram by the NIA marks a crucial step in disrupting a cross-border weapon smuggling network, with the arrest of a key accused and ongoing investigations to dismantle the entire operation.
