A Delhi court has asked the Enforcement Directorate to respond to AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan's bail plea by October 29. Khan, arrested for money laundering, remains in judicial custody until November 5. The case relates to alleged Wakf Board irregularities and disproportionate assets charges.
A Delhi court has directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to submit its response to a bail plea filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan in connection with a money laundering case. Special Judge Vishal Gogne asked the ED to file its reply by October 29, 2024, while extending Khan’s judicial custody until November 5.
Amanatullah Khan, the AAP MLA from Okhla, was arrested on September 2, 2024, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act following a search at his residence. The ED had stated that Khan was "evasive" during questioning, leading to his arrest. The case against him is based on two FIRs—one filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) related to alleged irregularities in the Delhi Wakf Board, and another disproportionate assets case registered by the Delhi police’s anti-corruption unit.
Khan’s legal team submitted a bail application, but the ED opposed the plea, arguing that his release could potentially influence witnesses and interfere with the investigation. The court agreed that the investigation is at a critical stage and extended Khan's custody accordingly.

Khan was presented before the court through video conferencing. The ED has been granted additional time to respond to the bail plea, and the case will next be heard on October 29.
