As the nation gears up to celebrate Republic Day, the Delhi Police has implemented a comprehensive traffic advisory, effective until January 16, in anticipation of the upcoming parade rehearsals near the iconic India Gate. This strategic move aims to ensure the smooth flow of events and the safety of both participants and the public.

According to the advisory released on Friday, the Republic Day parade rehearsals are scheduled to take place on Kartavya Path over the course of four days, specifically on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. The affected route stretches from Vijay Chowk to the India Gate, requiring the imposition of traffic restrictions during critical hours.

To facilitate uninterrupted parade movements, specific crossings such as Kartavyapath-Rafi Mar Crossing, Kartavyapath-Janpath Crossing, Kartavyapath-Man Singh Road Crossing, and Kartavyapath-C-Hexagon will experience traffic restrictions from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm on the specified days. Additionally, Kartavya Path itself, from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, will be completely closed to vehicular traffic during these hours.

Several key areas, including Man Singh Road, Janpath, Maulana Azad Road, the Rail Bhawan roundabout, Rajendra Prasad Road, Windsor Place roundabout, Sunheri Masjid roundabout, Rafi Marg, MLNP roundabout, MLNM, Q Point, C-Hexagon, Jaswant Singh roundabout, and Ashoka Road, are expected to witness heavy traffic congestion due to the parade rehearsals.

Delhi Police emphasizes the importance of motorists adhering to traffic rules and cooperating with the directions given by traffic police personnel. The advisory also urges citizens to plan their journeys in advance to minimize inconvenience during this period.

This precautionary measure follows recent traffic disruptions near the India Gate on Wednesday and Thursday, underlining the significance of these guidelines in ensuring a well-organized and secure Republic Day celebration. As the capital city anticipates the grand event, residents are encouraged to stay informed and exercise caution, contributing to the overall success of the Republic Day Parade.
