Delhi's COVID Death Toll Soars:-

Delhi, the capital city of India, has recorded the highest number of Covid-19 deaths in the country as it reaches a grim milestone of 24 in a week. The city's healthcare system is under immense pressure as hospitals are struggling to cope with the surge in cases and fatalities.

Apart from Delhi, several other states in India are also witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases. Maharashtra, another worst-hit state, has recorded over 1956 cases in a day, which is the highest single-day spike, but no covid related death was reported.

Kerala recorded the highest number of new cases, with 18,623 on April 9-15, followed by Delhi with 7,664 cases, surpassing Maharashtra, which reported 6,048 cases. Delhi's cases more than doubled from the previous week's count of 3,626. Haryana ranked fourth and reported 2.4 times increase in cases, from 1,915 to 4,554, while Uttar Pradesh saw cases almost triple, from 1,170 to 3,332.

Several states, including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan, have recorded more than 2,000 new cases of COVID-19 in the past week. In particular, Tamil Nadu reported 3,052 new cases, while Karnataka reported 2,253, Gujarat reported 2,341, Himachal Pradesh reported 2,163, and Rajasthan reported 2,016.

The Indian government has ramped up efforts to tackle the pandemic, with several measures being implemented to curb the spread of the Virus. The nationwide vaccination drive has been accelerated, and people are being urged to follow Covid-19 protocols such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and washing hands regularly.
