Delhi's LG approved a CBI probe into a Rs 223 crore corruption case in the Forests and Wildlife Department. Simultaneously, Chief Minister Kejriwal avoided ED summons, leading to BJP’s criticism regarding his faith in the judicial system.
Delhi's
Lieutenant Governor (LG), VK
Saxena, has given the green light for a comprehensive investigation by the
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into a significant corruption allegation
involving a staggering Rs 223 crore within the administrative realms of the Aam
Aadmi Party (AAP) government. This momentous decision by the LG signifies a
critical step towards unraveling suspected financial malpractices within the
government's Department of Forests and Wildlife.
The
alleged corruption scandal has cast a shadow over two high-ranking officials
operating within the Delhi government's Department of Forests and Wildlife. The
precise nature of the accusations remains veiled, but the substantial sum
involved has raised substantial concerns regarding potential financial
irregularities and misuse of public funds.
Simultaneously,
another chapter of controversy unfolds as Delhi's Chief Minister, Arvind
Kejriwal, has notably evaded repeated summonses issued by the Enforcement
Directorate (ED). This has emerged as a separate but concurrent issue, sparking
intense political debates and accusations.
Kejriwal's repeated absence from the ED summons, now on its third occurrence, has provoked strong criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP has been quick to highlight Kejriwal's disregard for the summons as an apparent lack of faith in the country's administrative and judicial systems. Virendra Sachdeva, the BJP's Delhi unit chief, has openly condemned Kejriwal's actions, drawing parallels with past instances where officials faced consequences for defying ED notices.

Sachdeva's
comments have intensified the debate surrounding Kejriwal's ethical standing as
the Chief Minister of Delhi. Kejriwal had previously denounced the summonses as
"illegal" and allegedly politically motivated, responding with a
written declaration asserting the illegitimacy of the recent notice.
This
ongoing confrontation between the Delhi government and investigative agencies
accentuates the growing rift and concerns regarding governance and ethical
conduct. The unfolding events emphasize the crucial necessity for transparent
governance and strict adherence to legal and ethical standards, particularly
concerning allegations of corruption within the government machinery.
