Dhanteras, a highly significant festival in the Hindu calendar, signifies the onset of Diwali celebrations and the auspiciousness of buying new things. This tradition is rooted in the belief that new acquisitions bring wealth and prosperity, honoring Goddess Lakshmi.

However, not everything that glitters during Dhanteras is advisable. In the fervor of the festival, impulsive purchases can lead to financial regrets. As Dhanteras 2023 approaches, here are five items to avoid buying on this auspicious day.

Electronic Gadgets: While the allure of acquiring the latest smartphone or laptop is strong, it's prudent to resist Dhanteras. Electronics tend to depreciate rapidly, with prices dropping shortly after release. Waiting for a sale or festive offer can offer significant savings. Furthermore, Vastu Shastra advises against purchasing electronic items on Dhanteras due to their association with the planet Rahu, which is linked to deception.

Gold and Jewellery: Dhanteras is renowned as the "Festival of Wealth." Yet, buying gold or jewelry on this day may not be the best financial choice. Festive season price inflation can result in paying more than the item's actual worth. Additionally, it is believed that such purchases may lead to financial troubles and debts.

Kitchen Appliances: Dhanteras is also referred to as "Dhanvantari Trayodashi," dedicated to the god of Ayurveda and health. While it's tempting to buy kitchen appliances for good health and prosperity, these items are often costly and subject to frequent price fluctuations. Vastu Shastra warns that buying them on Dhanteras may lead to frequent breakdowns and repairs.

Cars or Vehicles: Purchasing a vehicle on Dhanteras, while seen as a symbol of success, may have adverse consequences. Hindu beliefs suggest it may lead to accidents or financial troubles. Additionally, inflated festive season prices can result in overpaying.

Black Coloured Items: Black is often associated with negative energy in Hindu culture, representing sorrow and misfortune. Purchasing black-colored items on Dhanteras may invite negative energies, causing problems and obstacles. Opting for bright and vibrant colors associated with positivity is a better choice.

In conclusion, while Dhanteras is a time for celebration and new beginnings, making thoughtful purchases is essential to avoid potential financial troubles. Embracing these guidelines can ensure a prosperous and harmonious festive season in line with the spirit of Dhanteras.
