As preparations unfolded for the IND vs NZ World Cup semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium, Rahul Dravid, at the helm of the coaching staff, spearheaded an intricate examination of the pitch. Following a decisive triumph over the Netherlands, the Indian squad shifted its focus to understanding the conditions preceding the critical encounter with New Zealand on November 15.

Dravid, accompanied by his coaching triumvirate—batting mentor Vikram Rathour, bowling maestro Paras Mhambrey, and fielding expert T Dilip—scrutinized the intricacies of the Wankhede Stadium pitch. Their objective was to glean insights into the pitch's characteristics and anticipate the playing conditions that could sway the outcome of the semifinal.

In contrast to India's schedule, New Zealand's team arrived a day earlier, swiftly immersing themselves in rigorous preparations. Key figures such as Rachin Ravindra, Kane Williamson, Devon Conway, and Daryl Mitchell engaged in focused training sessions, with bowlers Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, and Kyle Jamieson intensively honing their skills.
