The Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar, accompanied by Election Commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel, arrived in Bhopal on Monday for a three-day visit aimed at evaluating the preparations for the impending Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections. Scheduled later this year, the elections have garnered significant attention from political leaders and citizens alike.
The distinguished commission, led by the Chief Election Commissioner and his colleagues, received a warm welcome at the Raja Bhoj Airport from Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan. This visit underscores the Election Commission's commitment to ensuring smooth and transparent elections in the state.
Recent political developments have added intrigue to the upcoming polls. Notably, leaders from eight districts, including a sitting MLA, tendered their resignations from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and have joined the Congress party in anticipation of the assembly elections.
This pivotal shift in allegiance took place in the presence of the state Congress chief, Kamal Nath, and Congress leader Randeep Surjewala at the state Congress office in Bhopal.
