Enforcement Directorate Initiates Investigation into Ex-NCB Officer Sameer Wankhede for Money Laundering

The Enforcement Directorate has launched a probe against former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede for alleged money laundering activities. Wankhede, facing scrutiny, accuses IPS officer Gyaneshwar Singh of harassment. Despite complaints, no action has been taken, leading Wankhede to seek legal intervention.

In
a recent development, the Enforcement
Directorate (ED) has initiated an investigation into former Mumbai NCB
zonal director Sameer Wankhede regarding a case of alleged money laundering.
Wankhede, a member of the Scheduled Caste community, has been at the center of
a legal storm, alleging harassment by IPS officer Gyaneshwar Singh.
The
ED's probe comes after Wankhede filed a complaint with the Delhi Police,
seeking action against Singh for purported harassment based on caste identity.
Wankhede, invoking the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of
Atrocities) Act, 1989, claimed entitlement to protection under the law.
Additionally, Wankhede's legal counsel accused Singh of exceeding the investigation's scope, subjecting Wankhede to humiliation. Allegations include threats of job loss, leakage of inquiry details to the media, and coercion of witnesses. Despite repeated pleas, Wankhede asserts no substantive action has been taken against Singh.

Furthermore,
Wankhede contends that Singh's actions resulted in social ostracization and
defamation, impacting both him and his community. The legal saga intensified as
Wankhede sought recourse through a special court under the SC/ST Act due to
alleged inaction against Singh.
The
unfolding legal drama saw a Delhi court issuing a notice to the Delhi Police,
demanding an action taken report regarding Wankhede's complaint against Singh.
Wankhede's legal representatives emphasize the urgency of the situation,
underscoring the need for accountability and justice.
Meanwhile,
the probing agency has summoned three NCB officers for questioning, adding
complexity to the ongoing investigation. As the legal battle ensues, Wankhede
remains steadfast in his pursuit of justice, navigating the intricacies of the
law to address the alleged injustices he has faced.
