New Delhi, India - The Indian government is planning to introduce new technologies that will revolutionize the way tolls are collected on highways in the country.
Toll Collection

The move is aimed at reducing traffic congestion and providing more accurate toll charges for motorists based on the distance travelled on highways. The introduction of the new system will also eliminate the need for motorists to stop at toll plazas, enabling a faster and more efficient process of toll collection.

As part of the new system, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is conducting a pilot project of automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology. The ANPR system uses cameras to capture the license plate of the vehicle as it passes through the toll gate. This enables automated toll collection without requiring the vehicle to stop, providing a seamless experience for the driver.

The use of GPS technology in toll collection is not new to the world, as many countries have already implemented this system. However, this move by the Indian government is a significant step forward in streamlining the toll collection process and reducing the burden on the nation's highways.

The government has already started work on the implementation of the new system, and the pilot project for ANPR technology is currently ongoing

The new system will also provide benefits such as reduced fuel consumption and air pollution due to the elimination of long queues at toll plazas. It will also reduce the incidence of accidents and delays caused by the need to stop at toll gates.

The government has already started work on the implementation of the new system, and the pilot project for ANPR technology is currently ongoing. The government plans to roll out the new system across the country in the next six months.

In conclusion, the introduction of GPS-based toll collection systems is a significant development that will revolutionize the way tolls are collected on highways in India. The use of ANPR technology will enable a faster, more efficient, and seamless toll collection process, benefiting both motorists and the government
