The Palm Bay Police Chief, Mariano Augello, revealed that a 24-year-old armed man engaged in a gunfire exchange with officers upon their arrival at the scene. The suspect fled after shooting at the officers.
Chief Augello praised the officers, stating, "Our officers did what they were trained to do – neutralize and stop a threat to our community." The suspect met his demise after using lethal force against the officers. Another unnamed victim succumbed to the suspect's actions. The two injured officers are undergoing treatment at a local hospital, according to Augello.
