Gadar 2 Star Simrat Kaur Randhawa Opens Up About Battling Severe Depression Due to Work Hiatus !

difficult phase.

During a challenging professional period, actor Simratt Kaur Randhawa found solace in her mother's wisdom, who encouraged her not to give up despite facing numerous setbacks. Now, four years later, Simrat is on the brink of her significant Bollywood debut in Sunny Deol's Gadar 2, a testament to her resilience and determination.

Commencing her film venture with the 2017 Telugu film "Prematho Mee Karthik," Simratt initially lacked interest in an acting career. However, after her debut, she gradually recognized her true calling in acting. Yet, an impediment emerged - despite her entry into the film world, she encountered a lack of opportunities. This realization highlighted her "outsider" status within the industry.

Simratt Kaur Randhawa remembers her parents' continuous sadness and concern while observing her state, leading them to provide her with invaluable advice that guided her through her difficult phase.

"I've come to realize that success requires patience, persistent effort, and unwavering determination. Nothing in this field comes easily, especially when you're an outsider. Building connections and finding the right people to guide your acting aspirations is a challenge. My entire journey was a quest to find a starting point and navigate auditions.

"I began in the South, and despite my initial film there, I found myself at a crossroads. Meetings with production houses yielded praise but no concrete opportunities. I pondered over my shortcomings, wondering why work eluded me. Even in the South, securing my next project was an arduous process, and I concurrently pursued opportunities here as well."

Following numerous endeavors to achieve success, Simratt had reached a point of despair by 2019, relinquishing her once-cherished dream. She vividly recollects enduring a profound period of depression, confining herself for extended "months" while tears became a constant companion. The weight of perceived "failure" had taken hold of the 26-year-old actor.

"In 2019, I was on the brink of surrendering entirely. That year stands as the darkest period of my life, overwhelmed by a sense of failure and inadequacy. Doubts clouded my potential as an actor, compounded by the lack of progress in both the South and Bollywood. I was consumed by a depressive state, withdrawing from the world for months. Conversations ceased, and days were filled with endless tears."

Simratt remembers her parents' constant concern, witnessing their sorrowful and anxious expressions due to her situation. They extended advice that proved instrumental in guiding her through her difficult times. They even suggested alternative paths if she wished to discontinue acting, but her sense of failure persisted. Her mother's reassuring words echoed, "Sweetheart, you're still young, just beginning your journey. Giving up so soon isn't an option." The turning point arrived with the involvement of Mukesh Chhabra, leading to a positive shift in her circumstances," she recounted.
