Uttarakhand Police intensifies the hunt for rioters in Haldwani after recent violence sparked by the demolition of an illegal madrassa. Posters featuring wanted individuals, including Abdul Malik, are displayed across the town. The search continues as authorities strive to restore peace amid ongoing tensions.
In
the aftermath of the recent unrest in Haldwani,
Uttarakhand, authorities are intensifying their efforts to locate and apprehend
those responsible for the violence. The turmoil erupted following the
demolition of an illegal madrassa in the Banbhoolpura area, triggering clashes
between locals and law enforcement personnel on February 8.
Uttarakhand
Police, on Friday, released photographs of nine individuals identified as the
primary instigators of the chaos. Among them are Abdul Malik and his son, who
are believed to have played significant roles in orchestrating the violence.
Malik, in particular, had constructed the madrassa and vehemently opposed its
demolition. His defiance escalated into clashes that resulted in severe
disruptions and loss of life.
The
state government, through various channels, disseminated images of the
"wanted" rioters, urging citizens to come forward with any
information that could aid in their apprehension. Additionally, a lookout
notice has been issued for Abdul Malik and his son, heightening the urgency of
their capture.
Furthermore,
law enforcement agencies have apprehended five additional suspects, bringing
the total number of arrests to 42 individuals allegedly involved in the violent
incidents. The police are conducting extensive searches across the town and
surrounding areas in pursuit of those evading arrest.
To
assist in the identification and location of the suspects, posters bearing the
images of the wanted individuals, prominently featuring Abdul Malik and his
son, have been strategically placed throughout Haldwani. This concerted effort
aims to leverage community involvement in facilitating the apprehension of the
perpetrators and restoring peace to the region.
Despite the ongoing manhunt, the situation remains tense in Banbhoolpura, prompting authorities to implement curfew restrictions. While some relaxation in curfew hours has been granted, the suspension of internet services continues for the eighth consecutive day, further complicating communication and access to information in the area.

The
violence on February 8 resulted in significant casualties, with six rioters
losing their lives and over 100 individuals sustaining injuries, including
police personnel and members of the media. The clashes, characterized by stone
pelting and arson, underscored the depth of the grievances and tensions
surrounding the demolition of the madrassa.
As
the search for the masterminds and perpetrators of the Haldwani violence intensifies,
the community braces for further developments while grappling with the
aftermath of the unrest. Authorities remain committed to restoring calm and
ensuring that those responsible for instigating violence are brought to
justice.
