Hrithik Roshan has emerged as one of Bollywood's most versatile actors. Stepping into the limelight 23 years ago with the romantic drama Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, he has steadfastly forged ahead in his career. His journey has been punctuated by a series of outstanding performances that have firmly etched his status as one of the Hindi film industry's most gifted luminaries. With each project, he has strived to make an indelible impact. Who can forget the iconic Koi... Mil Gaya?
Under the direction of his father, Rakesh Roshan, the film unveiled a distinct facet of Hrithik's talent. Portraying the character of Rohit Mehra, a mentally challenged individual with the emotional depth of an 11-year-old, Hrithik embraced an entirely new persona. His portrayal garnered widespread acclaim, earning him numerous accolades for his compelling depiction of a developmentally challenged role.
Celebrating the film's 20th anniversary, the 49-year-old luminary candidly shared his profound connection with Rohit's persona. Nostalgia painted his words as he recounted his past, revealing a haunting familiarity with the hardships his character encountered.
"I could deeply empathize with Rohit's essence. My childhood was marred by instances of bullying owing to my stutter. There were days when the prospect of school was disheartening, and tears found solace in my mother's embrace. Interestingly, the sequence where Raj and his companions vandalize Rohit's scooty mirrored a real-life episode from my own journey. A cherished BMX cycle, emblematic of my youthful treasures, met a tragic end at the hands of elder schoolmates, leaving me crestfallen. The vulnerability, a prerequisite for Rohit's portrayal, had already been etched into my soul through the contours of my personal experiences," Hrithik shared with ANI.
