Amritpal Singh Missing Case: Recent Developments

While the police have been out on the hunt for Amritpal Singh and his helper, Papalpreet Singh, day and night, crucial evidence has been Found to have gone missing as well. 

The CCTV footage from the Mohanapur Gurudwara of UP, which was a piece of crucial evidence in the investigation, is deleted until 25th March 2023. 

A suspected vehicle abandoned in Phagwara, Punjab, has been found, and 1 person has been arrested concerning the vehicle.

Who is Amritpal Singh?

Amritpal Singh is a self-declared Sikh godman who has recently been declared as Waris Punjab De after the death of Deep Sidhu. He holds extremist and separatist Khalistani ideas and has been responsible for many violent agitations, such as armed attacks on police stations and inciting children to pick up weapons. Currently, Amritpal Singh is Punjab’s most wanted criminal.

Amritpal Singh’s Wife, Kirandeep Kaur’s Stand

Kirandeep Kaur was called in to assist with the investigation, and she has repeatedly expressed that she does not know her husband’s whereabouts. 

In an interview with The Week, Kirandeep Kaur said, “Amrit had told me anything could happen anytime. He was [aware of it]. If the government is against him, it can arrest him, but he never told me that he could be [pursued] in such a way. The way it is being done is illegal, and it is not the correct way to try to detain someone.” 

Kirandeep Kaur has vehemently defended her husband and reassured that she would remain loyal to him throughout the investigation.

Kirandeep Kaur also bravely stated that she would not flee from the situation and face it by saying, “I am not going to run away from this situation. Allegations that I have links in the UK or that I am doing something illegal. I am here (in India) legally, I can stay here for 180 days. I have been here for two months already. I will not go against the law and will not overstay beyond the stipulated Period. This is my home now.”
