The first threat the city police received on Tuesday was a bomb threat to Praja Bhavan, which is the office of the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao situated in the Begumpet area.

Speaking to Chandmari Deputy Commissioner of Police, Inspector Shoban based at Punjagutta Police Station, the unknown caller informed the police control room that a bomb had been planted at the well-guarded and fortified facility. Action was not wasted and within no time a bomb disposal squad and other policemen forces arrived at the scene to conduct further searches and to ascertain the threat.

”We got the call telling us there was a bomb planted at Praja Bhavan. As a measure of ensuring that there were no dangerous incidences the entry into the building had been barred to the general public until the search was over,” Inspector Shoban to the press. He further noted that several security measures were being taken to confirm the existing threat.

It is a building which was earlier called Pragati Bhavan and it is the official residence of the Chief Minister and it is supposed to be highly secured. The area was promptly sealed off and the police maintained a hawk-eye watch as the bomb squad combed the compound as well as the surroundings of the premises.

The city was in a state of panic after the received bomb threat, especially given that the event happened shortly after a small explosion took place at a leading multiplex in Hyderabad, though nobody was hurt in the attack.

Police are yet to establish the reason behind the threat, but all options are open, including fake calls. They have, nevertheless, assured everyone that all possible measures are being implemented to guarantee the safety and security of the Chief Minister, staff, and the public.
