The fact that India intends to export thousands of metric tons of onions to Sri Lanka demonstrates the sincerity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "neighborhood first" policy. This comes after the dictatorship of Mohammed Muizzu, who sided with China, and during which India provided the Maldives with enormous amounts of basic goods.
Furthermore, an
additional 10,000 tons of onions are said to have arrived from India on April 3
to the United
Arab Emirates (UAE), which is Bharat's top priority. For this reason, India
has traditionally valued the Gulf country highly.
The export notification to the Maldives concludes with the statement that all necessities will be "exempted from any existing restriction or prohibition on exports." This is in spite of the possibility that Muizzu was influenced by India prior to the pivotal Majlis elections on April 21. The Maldives will continue to import essential goods from India even if that country were to impose export prohibitions or limits in the future as a result of an unanticipated production shortfall.

Yes, Muizzu's
fundraising tour to Turkey, China, and the United Arab Emirates was
unsuccessful in garnering any money. None of the participating nations on the
tour have awarded any grants to the coastal state on the Indian Ocean. Muizzu,
the head of the Maldivian Salafi, visited Turkey on his first international
trip after taking office as president of the Maldives on November 17, 2023.
Muizzu hasn't gone to India despite using an anti-Indian campaign to gain
power. Muizzu's lack of vision has caused Saudi Arabia to lose interest in the
Maldives.
