During a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Kazan, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed New Delhi’s readiness to help restore peace amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. Modi reaffirmed India's position that dialogue and diplomacy are the only paths to achieving a resolution. He emphasized the importance of humanity and stability, expressing India's willingness to extend full cooperation in facilitating peace.
Modi noted his frequent contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin since the onset of the conflict, reiterating India’s consistent call for a peaceful resolution. "Our priority remains the early establishment of peace and stability," Modi said. He underscored India's commitment to international peace efforts, adding that his multiple visits to Russia in recent months highlight the depth of the nations' partnership.
Putin expressed his appreciation for Modi’s efforts, recalling their prior meetings and frequent discussions. He acknowledged the importance of India's perspective on the Ukraine conflict and looked forward to their joint participation in the BRICS Summit. Putin also underlined the long-standing strategic relationship between India and Russia, describing it as a "privileged partnership."
