India reaffirmed its support for a two-state solution at a UN conference, urging global powers to pursue direct dialogue and practical actions to resolve the Israel-Palestine conflict. It emphasized humanitarian aid, security, and rebuilding Gaza, while warning against symbolic efforts that fail to bring tangible peace to the region.

India has reiterated its strong support for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict during a high-level UN conference in New York, emphasizing the urgent need for dialogue, diplomacy, and practical actions on the ground. India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, urged the international community to move beyond symbolic gestures and commit to concrete steps that promote peace.
Speaking at the UN High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine, Harish stressed that the time has come to actively pursue a two-state solution where Israel and Palestine coexist peacefully within agreed borders. He underscored that humanitarian aid, security, and economic rebuilding must be addressed with equal urgency, and not politicized.
India called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, unimpeded humanitarian access, release of all hostages, and a return to direct dialogue. Harish highlighted India’s long-standing support for Palestine, including the recognition of Palestinian statehood in 1988 and humanitarian assistance worth over $160 million.
India also welcomed the ‘New York Declaration’, the 25-page outcome document that demands an end to the Gaza war and calls on Hamas to relinquish control to the Palestinian Authority. The document proposes the formation of a transitional administration in Gaza under the Authority’s umbrella post-ceasefire.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres echoed India’s concerns, warning that denying Palestinian statehood would only fuel extremism and injustice. He firmly stated that a two-state solution remains the only viable path to lasting peace.
