In a strategic anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor sector, the Indian Army successfully neutralized three terrorists, with significant support from artificial intelligence (AI) and unmanned vehicles. The encounter began after terrorists attacked an ambulance within an army convoy, sparking immediate response from security forces.

Major General Sameer Shrivastava, General Officer Commanding of the 10 Infantry Division, highlighted how AI-enhanced technologies and unmanned systems provided rapid and accurate information, aiding in swift retaliation. The operation also saw the courageous efforts of Phantom, a four-year-old sniffer dog, who tragically lost his life after sustaining bullet injuries while shielding troops.

The rugged terrain of Akhnoor, with its steep gradients and dense forestry, presented unique challenges, leading the Army to deploy special armored vehicles to navigate the area. Intelligence from nearby villagers played a crucial role in early detection, helping thwart the suspected large-scale plans of the terrorists. Major General Shrivastava noted that intelligence agencies had gathered information about a potential terrorist plot, enabling proactive coordination among Indian security forces.

The operation was part of the Indian Army’s larger counter-offensive, Operation Asan, launched in response to recent attacks on army convoys in the Battal region. In collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir police, security forces cordoned off the area and conducted extensive searches, culminating in the successful neutralization of the threat.
