Army troops stationed at the Line of Control (LoC) in the Shahpur sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir successfully thwarted a major infiltration attempt by Pakistani intruders on Sunday. The troops shot and killed one of the intruders, while the other two escaped into the nearby forests. However, they were later arrested, with one of them sustaining injuries in the process. The two arrested intruders were found to be carrying around 14 kgs of illegal substances.
According to Lt. Col. Devender Anand, a defence spokesperson based in Jammu, where the troops noticed 3 individuals moving suspiciously along the LoC on Saturday night. Later, around midnight, the group crossed the LoC and began moving towards the Indian side. The soldiers closely watched their movement and challenged them when they approached the border fence at around 2 am. The intruders attempted to flee, but the troops fired at them, killing one of them.
The area was immediately cordoned off to prevent the other two intruders from escaping across the LoC. The incident highlights the Army's preparedness and vigilance in maintaining the security of the nation's borders.
