The Indian Army fired warning shots after detecting movement of suspected infiltrators at two separate locations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir during the early hours of Monday, August 5, 2024. The incidents occurred in Akhnoor and Sunderbani sectors, prompting immediate military response and subsequent search operations.

In Akhnoor, on the outskirts of Jammu, troops from the 18 Maratha Light Infantry observed movement of three to four potential infiltrators around 1:30 AM. The army illuminated the area with flares and deployed drones for surveillance. Reinforcements were mobilized to establish a cordon, and a search operation was initiated at dawn. Local police were also called to the scene, with an official stating, "It is believed that terrorists are trapped in a rivulet."

Simultaneously, in the Sunderbani-Nowshera sector of Rajouri district, the army fired rounds after noticing suspicious activity at approximately 12:30 AM. A thorough search of this area is also underway.

Despite the army's response, there was no reported exchange of fire with the suspected infiltrators. The military has intensified its search efforts in both areas to prevent any potential border crossings.

These incidents come amid heightened security measures across Jammu and Kashmir, coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, which had granted special autonomous status to the former state.

The situation remains tense as security forces remain vigilant against potential threats along the LoC. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, emphasizing the importance of border security in the region.
