In the late hours of March 28, two Indian naval vessels that had been dispatched to the Arabian Sea to carry out maritime security operations were diverted in order to capture a fishing vessel that had been abducted. At the time of the incident, the FV was approximately 90 nautical miles southwest of Socotra. Reports stated that nine armed pirates had boarded the ship. On March 29, the stolen FV was eventually found and recovered.
