Indian Railways is gearing up to unveil a new "super app" designed to streamline passenger services, expected to be introduced by the end of the year. This innovative mobile application aims to serve as a one-stop platform for various railway services, enhancing convenience for travelers.

Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the app will facilitate numerous functions, including ticket booking, purchasing platform passes, and monitoring train schedules. The application will integrate seamlessly with the existing IRCTC system, ensuring a cohesive user experience.

Currently, travelers rely on multiple applications for different services, including the IRCTC Rail Connect for ticket bookings, eCatering for food delivery, and Rail Madad for customer feedback. The new super app aims to consolidate these services into a single, user-friendly interface.

According to officials, while the IRCTC will continue to handle ticket bookings, the super app will provide an additional layer of functionality, enhancing user engagement and potentially generating new revenue streams for IRCTC. With over 100 million downloads, the IRCTC Rail Connect app has become the most popular application among railway users.

The introduction of this super app aligns with IRCTC's recent financial successes, reporting a net profit of ₹1111.26 crore and total revenues of ₹4270.18 crore for the fiscal year 2023-24. With ticket sales contributing significantly to these figures, the new app is anticipated to further bolster the railway's earnings while improving the overall passenger experience.
