Delhi Police's 'Operation Eagle' led to the arrest of 18 gang members involved in gunrunning, with the confiscation of firearms and ammunition, addressing growing concerns over gun violence in NCR.
Delhi Police successfully dismantled an inter-state gun syndicate through a month-long operation named “Operation Eagle,” resulting in the arrest of 18 members of a gang involved in extensive gunrunning. This crackdown, initiated in October, was aimed at curbing the escalating gun violence in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
The operation began with the arrest of two suspects, Arshad and Mohammad Suleman, in Ghazipur. Authorities recovered a firearm, live bullets, knives, and a stolen vehicle during the raid. Interrogation of the suspects led to the capture of Anuj (alias Moni) in Patparganj, who subsequently provided information about other gang members. This domino effect helped police dismantle a vast gun smuggling network across NCR, ultimately arresting 16 additional associates of the gang, known as the “Madan gang.” Madan, the gang leader, was found to be operating his network from Dasna Jail in Ghaziabad.

During "Operation Eagle," police confiscated eight country-made pistols, four semi-automatic pistols, one rifle, knives, and 33 live bullets. The arrested individuals reportedly have a history of violent crimes, including attempted murder, extortion, and robbery, with multiple cases registered under the Arms Act and Gangster Act.
