In
a recent online frenzy, after Katrina and Rashmika, a manipulated image falsely
declared that Sara Tendulkar, the daughter of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar,
and cricketer Shubman Gill had made their relationship official. However, India
TV's Fact Check team has conclusively proven that the image was digitally
altered using Photoshop. The original photograph actually featured Sara posing
with her brother, Arjun Tendulkar.
This
doctored image first surfaced on a social media platform, with a caption
stating that "Sara Tendulkar confirmed that she is dating Shubman
Gill." However, after a thorough investigation, the Fact Check team
determined that the image had been tampered with, and no such confirmation
existed. Furthermore, a diligent search of Sara Tendulkar and Shubman Gill's
official Instagram accounts failed to uncover any such photo.
Instead, on September 24, 2023, Sara Tendulkar uploaded a post that closely matched the popular photograph. On Arjun Tendulkar's birthday, this page was dedicated to him and contained many photos of the Tendulkar siblings. "Baby bro turns 24 on the 24th!!!" the caption joked. Happy birthday! Your sister is always there for you."
This
isn't the first instance of false claims being made regarding Sara Tendulkar
and Shubman Gill's supposed relationship. In a previously debunked rumor, it
was suggested that the two were on the brink of engagement following Shubman
Gill's remarkable double century in a January 2023 ODI against New Zealand.
Nonetheless, this claim was also proven to be entirely baseless.
In an era of rampant misinformation, this incident serves as a stark reminder to exercise caution and skepticism when encountering sensational claims on the internet.
