In the upcoming IPL 2024 auction, Kedar Jadhav, despite his,  2 crore base price, has been excluded from the shortlist of players. Among the 4 Indian players with this base price, only three were selected. Jadhav's recent performance and high base price might have led to this omission.

In preparation for the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the much-anticipated auction is scheduled for December 19 at Dubai's Coca-Cola Arena. This event, commencing at 2:30 PM IST, features a shortlist of 333 players—224 Indians and 109 overseas contenders—across 10 franchises. Among these players, the top bracket for the auction stands at INR 2 crore, which attracted four Indian players.

Among these high-value entrants, Kedar Jadhav, a prominent figure in Indian cricket, found himself excluded from the final selection, despite initially registering with a 2 crore base price. Jadhav's omission from the shortlist comes as a surprise, given his past contributions. However, his performance decline after the 2019 World Cup might have impacted his appeal to franchises, leading to this exclusion.

Previously unsold in the last auction, Jadhav took on a commentator's role in Marathi until Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) recruited him mid-season as an injury replacement for David Willey. Despite his stint with RCB, playing in just two matches and scoring 12 runs, Jadhav's overall IPL career spans across four teams: Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad, accumulating 1208 runs at a strike rate of 123.14.

Meanwhile, among the Indian players registering at the 2 crore base price, Shardul Thakur, Harshal Patel, and Umesh Yadav secured spots on the shortlist. The auction's outcome remains uncertain for these selected players. Among the overseas entrants, Angelo Mathews and Tom Banton, also priced at 2 crore, surprisingly missed the shortlist.

Jadhav's exclusion, despite his notable career, sheds light on the evolving dynamics and considerations during IPL auctions, emphasizing the impact of recent player performances and base price evaluations on franchise decisions.
