In a significant development, the United States, under Secretary of State Antony Blinken, has declared new sanctions against Iran-backed militias, specifically Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada (KSS). Designating KSS and its secretary-general Hashim Finyan Rahim al-Saraji as 'Specially Designated Global Terrorists' move is in response to KSS's threats to both US and Global Coalition personnel combating ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

Secretary Blinken emphasized Iran's extensive support for KSS and other aligned groups through the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Quds Force. The sanctions also extend to individuals associated with the Iran-aligned militia group Kata'ib Hizballah (KH).

Simultaneously, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the aftermath of the recent Hamas massacre, revising the death toll to 364. Netanyahu outlined Israel's post-war strategy, expressing reluctance to keep troops inside Gaza while emphasizing the need for a cultural shift in civilian administration to combat terrorism.

Netanyahu underscored the challenge of governing Gaza post-war, emphasizing a shift in cultural attitudes and rejecting any administration supporting terrorism. The Israeli leader expressed a commitment to overall military responsibility while calling for the establishment of a responsible civilian government.
