PSLV Rocket

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) achieved yet another milestone by successfully launching its Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket carrying seven Singaporean satellites. The launch took place at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, and witnessed the precise deployment of all satellites into their intended orbits.

The primary payload of this commercial mission was the DS-SAR Radar Imaging Earth Observation satellite, jointly developed by DSTA and ST Engineering, Singapore. Positioned at an altitude of 535 km in a Near-equatorial Orbit (NEO), the 360-kg satellite will cater to various agencies within the Singaporean Government, fulfilling their satellite imagery requirements.

ISRO achieves a significant milestone by deploying seven Singaporean satellites using its trusted PSLV rocket, boosting Earth observation capabilities and strengthening international partnerships

Powered by a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) payload, engineered by Israel Aerospace Industries, the DS-SAR satellite boasts the capability to provide all-weather, day-and-night coverage with a remarkable 1-meter resolution, meeting a wide range of Earth observation needs.

The PSLV rocket, standing tall at 44.4 meters, launched on time at 6:31 am, after a 25-hour countdown, leaving behind thick fumes from its tail. This successful mission marked the 58th flight of the PSLV and utilized the 17th vehicle with Core Alone Configuration. The "Workhorse of ISRO," PSLV's reputation was further solidified as it consistently delivered various satellites into low earth orbits.

Apart from the primary satellite, the launch also deployed six co-passenger satellites, including VELOX-AM, ARCADE, SCOOB-II, NULloN, Galassia-2, and ORB-12 STRIDER. Each of these nanosatellites had its unique purpose, ranging from technology demonstration to seamless IoT connectivity in urban and remote regions.

With NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) overseeing the mission's commercial aspects, the successful deployment received appreciation from both NSIL and Singapore for the collaboration.

The PSLV-C55/TeLEOS-2 mission in April laid the foundation for today's success, enhancing ISRO's reputation as a reliable space agency catering to global customers.
