This case, which shocked the nation, involves the brutal rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in August last year. Following widespread protests, the Calcutta High Court handed the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The accused, Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police, was arrested for the crime. The CBI has sought the death penalty for Roy, with the investigation revealing the horrific details of the crime. The victim's father expressed his hopes for justice, stating that the family is committed to ensuring the perpetrators are brought to trial.
