Istanbul nightclub fire: Dozens dead

The Masquerade club is located in a skyscraper basement in Istanbul. It was closed for repairs during the day for fire broke out.

Istanbul Governor Davut Gul stated that the fire broke out soon after midday.Though it is still unclear where it originated. Mr. Gul stated that it was believed that those who perished in the fire were involved in the renovations.

Eight persons have been issued arrest warrants as part of the ongoing investigation into the event. It was including the nightclub's management and the person in charge of the renovations. Three of the remaining people have already been captured.The rest are still being hunted after. The gayrettepe neighborhood club's door was charred and smoldering.The firemen and other emergency officials were gathered around it. The club is located two stories below a sixteen-story apartment complex.

Throughout the day the governor's office issued several updates indicating a significant increase in the number of fatalities. EkremImamoglu is Istanbul's recently re-elected mayor. He claims that the club failed to submit the required application for a development permit.

He asserts there was lack of visibility. It was resulted from the property's location two levels below ground level. This is an additional proof that no building or restoration project involving the site has ever been allowed by the local municipality. He also expressed his sympathy to the victims on other social media platforms. He wished for the speedy recovery of the injured and for God to have mercy to our departed loved ones in a post on X.
