In a significant turn, Jenna Ortega, known for her role as Wednesday Adams, departs from the upcoming 'Scream VII' due to scheduling conflicts arising from her commitments to the 'Wednesday' series. Her withdrawal follows co-star Melissa Barrera's dismissal, which was unrelated to Ortega's decision.

Spyglass, the production house behind 'Scream VII,' has released a firm statement in response to Barrera's termination, condemning all forms of hate speech, particularly antisemitism and any incitement of hatred. They stress a zero-tolerance policy towards such behaviour, reiterating their commitment to fostering a safe and respectful working environment.

Ortega and Barrera notably portrayed sisters Tara and Sam Carpenter, breathing new life into the 'Scream' franchise with their performances in the 2022 revival and the subsequent 'Scream VI.' The announcement of 'Scream 7' earlier this year, under the direction of Christopher Landon, promised to continue the successful legacy of the horror series.

For those unfamiliar with Jenna Ortega's career, she gained prominence as a child actress, notably starring as young Jane in 'Jane the Virgin' and leading as Harley Diaz in Disney Channel's 'Stuck in the Middle,' earning her an Imagen Award. Her recent starring role in 'Wednesday' has garnered nominations at prestigious awards like the Golden Globe, Primetime Emmy, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

This departure underscores Ortega's diverse acting journey and precedes recent industry controversies, showcasing her versatile talents and evolving roles in the entertainment sphere.
