The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and released its first list of 195 candidates on Saturday. Meanwhile, BJP's National President JP Nadda has resigned from the position of Rajya Sabha MP. After JP Nadda's resignation, the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha immediately accepted it. JP Nadda was elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat on February 20. However, before this, he was a Rajya Sabha member from Himachal Pradesh. His tenure as a Rajya Sabha member from Himachal Pradesh was for a short period. According to the rules, if a member wins elections from another place while being a member of the parliament, they must vacate the old seat within 14 days.
He will continue to hold the position of the party's national president. It is known that a proposal to amend the party's constitution was passed at the recent BJP National Convention. Meanwhile, the tenure of JP Nadda, who arrived at the brink of the term end, was extended until June 30 considering the Lok Sabha elections. The party has not yet provided details and reasons for this amendment, but sources say that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the appointment of future presidents.
