During a recent event, Karan Johar shared his thoughts about Kangana Ranaut's upcoming film "Emergency." Speaking at The Indian Express' Express Adda session on Monday, Karan was prompted about a political occurrence he'd like to witness in a movie. He responded by expressing his anticipation for "Emergency," saying, "Emergency is being made and I am excited to watch it." Scheduled for a November 2023 release, the movie portrays Kangana as former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Kangana has now responded to Karan's remarks concerning the film.

Kangana Ranaut remembered a past incident when Karan Johar's excitement to watch one of her films transformed "the most successful weekend of her life into a nightmare."

In response to Karan Johar's recent comment about Kangana's film, a Twitter user identified as X expressed surprise, posting, "Seriously? Change of heart." Kangana took to her own Twitter account to reply, sharing, "Haha, the last time he expressed excitement to see Manikarnika, it triggered a malicious smear campaign against me during its release weekend…"

She continued, “Almost all the lead actors from the film were allegedly paid to tarnish my image and undermine the film. Suddenly, what should have been the most triumphant weekend of my life turned into a nightmarish experience… Now, his renewed enthusiasm is making me feel quite apprehensive…”

Director Krish had accused Kangana Ranaut of taking over his film, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019). He was replaced during the filming, and Kangana had stated that she reshot significant portions, leading her to claim a co-director credit. In a 2019 interview with SpotboyE, Krish had challenged Kangana’s assertion that she shot 70 percent of the movie.

He had explained, “Kangana has contributed around 20-25 percent to the first half and 10-15 percent to the second half. I didn’t film a song, and I didn’t shoot her entry scene. In the second half, she even re-filmed some scenes, which I had done differently... Kangana even told me that Zee Studios didn't approve of my version. She said it was resembling a Bhojpuri film. I found that amusing. People are aware of my past work. We argued, but she insisted on having her way. I couldn't comprehend it." He went on to share that Kangana was impolite during their phone conversations and that her demeanor was generally discourteous.
