‘Thalaivi’ Under Scanner
Kangana Ranaut stepped into the shoes of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for her movie ‘Thalaivi’, which is a biopic based on the life of actor-turned-chief minister Jayaram Jayalalithaa, Although, critics as well as movie buffs praised the actor for her brilliant performance as the former CM, the box office collections of the film were considerably low. Now, the distribution company of the film has demanded the reimbursement of Rs 6 Crore from its producers.
Why Is ‘Thalaivi’ in Trouble?
Times of India reported that Zee, the worldwide distributor of the movie, had paid Rs 6 crore in advance to the film's producers for the distribution rights. Following that, the distribution company sent letters and emails to the producers for clearance of dues. Despite that, the amount remains uncompensated, and the production house has not issued any reply. Speculations are rampant that the producers might have to face legal action from the distribution company due to their failure to return the money.
Kangana’s Upcoming Movies
What’s keeping Kangana busy these days? Many are expecting it to be a biopic of Indira’s life, but the actor has clarified that the movie, strictly, is a political drama, and not a biopic. The film, set to release in the second half of 2023, also stars Shreyas Talpade, Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudry, Milind Soman, and others.
