Pratibha Virbhadra Singh, the Chief of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee and

Member of Parliament, met with the Party's President Mallikarjun Kharge in New

Delhi.

Their discussions included preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as well as the recent natural disaster that impacted the state.

During their meeting, Singh informed Kharge about the landslides resulting from heavy rains in the state. They also engaged in discussions regarding several party-related issues.

While speaking to ANI, she stated, "For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024 we have to strengthen the party and we have to give importance to the party’s people, then they will work for the party on the ground, that subject was discussed with Mallikarjun Kharge."

She further mentioned, "The second thing that we discussed was the disaster that struck Himachal Pradesh.”

The HPCC Chief revealed, “The state would not be able to cover the losses, so we are repeatedly requesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help us. But the PM didn't even speak a word of sympathy on it."

During this year's monsoon season, rain-related incidents have claimed the lives of 400 individuals, and more than 13,000 houses have been damaged, as reported by the officials.

In light of the situation, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has announced the party's intention to address the issue of a special relief package for the disaster-stricken Himachal Pradesh during the upcoming special session of Parliament, as per an official statement made on Wednesday.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accompanied Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to conduct an assessment of the relief and rehabilitation efforts in the Shiv Bawari, Krishnanagar, and Kanlog regions of Shimla on Wednesday.

She stated, “The situation in Himachal Pradesh is very painful and the State has suffered immense losses. The State Government led by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is working tirelessly to provide relief to the disaster-affected people.

The leader further remarked, “The Union Government seems to be unable to grasp the gravity of the situation in Himachal Pradesh……. Congress will raise the issue of a special relief package for Himachal Pradesh during this special session in

Parliament"
