accumulating 302 runs on Day 2. The partnership between KL
Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja proved instrumental, extending their lead to 175
runs at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Young
Yashasvi Jaiswal's commendable 80 off 74 balls was a highlight, but the day
also witnessed Shubman Gill's continued struggle in the no. 3 role. Gill
managed only 23 runs off 66 balls, adding to his recent poor form in red-ball
cricket.
Gill
entered the crease on Day 1 after Rohit Sharma's early departure. Despite
surviving an lbw appeal, Gill appeared unsettled during his innings,
contributing a modest 36 runs alongside KL Rahul for the third wicket. Rahul,
on the other hand, dominated the field, showcasing his batting prowess.
The 24-year-old Gill has accumulated a mere 189 runs in nine Test innings at no. 3, with an average of 23.62. His overall batting average has dipped to 30, a far cry from his white-ball cricket performance.

English star Kevin Pieterson discussed Gill's struggles with Rahul at the end
