Indian batsmen, led by KL Rahul, dominated England in the ongoing Test, adding 302 runs on Day 2. However, Shubman Gill's struggle in the crucial no. 3 roles continued, with only 23 runs. Rahul defended Gill's approach, expressing confidence in the young cricketer's ability to bounce back.

In the ongoing Test against England, Indian batters displayed dominance, accumulating 302 runs on Day 2. The partnership between KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja proved instrumental, extending their lead to 175 runs at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Young Yashasvi Jaiswal's commendable 80 off 74 balls was a highlight, but the day also witnessed Shubman Gill's continued struggle in the no. 3 role. Gill managed only 23 runs off 66 balls, adding to his recent poor form in red-ball cricket.

Gill entered the crease on Day 1 after Rohit Sharma's early departure. Despite surviving an lbw appeal, Gill appeared unsettled during his innings, contributing a modest 36 runs alongside KL Rahul for the third wicket. Rahul, on the other hand, dominated the field, showcasing his batting prowess.

The 24-year-old Gill has accumulated a mere 189 runs in nine Test innings at no. 3, with an average of 23.62. His overall batting average has dipped to 30, a far cry from his white-ball cricket performance.

Former English star Kevin Pieterson discussed Gill's struggles with Rahul at the end of the day's play. Rahul, defending Gill, noted the youngster's attempt to defend his wicket in a challenging situation.

Rahul emphasized Gill's need for one breakthrough shot to break free and build confidence. Despite the struggle, Rahul expressed confidence in Gill's capabilities, particularly in playing spin, highlighting his proficiency in white-ball cricket.

The conversation with Pieterson shed light on Gill's approach, with Rahul suggesting that the young cricketer will learn and improve with time. Acknowledging the challenges faced by batters, Rahul remains optimistic about Gill's future performances.
