KTR alleged Telangana’s Congress-led government misused power in contract awards, calling the ₹8,888 crore AMRUT 2.0 project a case of crony capitalism. He urged a probe into potential conflicts of interest and criticized the Modi administration for not acting against the alleged corruption.
Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao (KTR) criticized Telangana’s Congress government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, for alleged corruption in the awarding of contracts under the AMRUT 2.0 water supply scheme, amounting to ₹8,888 crore. Speaking in New Delhi, KTR called for the contracts' cancellation, describing the process as "crony capitalism, corruption, and abuse of power."
KTR highlighted that a February contract worth ₹1,137 crore was given to a joint venture involving the Indian Hume Pipe Company (IHP) and Sodha Constructions, the latter allegedly linked to the chief minister’s brother-in-law, Sujan Reddy. He noted that while IHP was contracted for 20% of the project, the remaining 80% went to Sodha Constructions, which he claimed lacks the expertise for large-scale projects. Pointing to Sodha's modest profits in recent years, KTR raised concerns about the company’s selection and alleged improper influence by Revanth Reddy.
KTR further questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration had not taken action despite evidence of alleged misdeeds. He accused the Congress government of turning Telangana into what Modi once referred to as an "ATM" for Congress, hinting at systemic corruption.

Drawing comparisons, KTR likened the AMRUT 2.0 issue to past Congress controversies, including alleged misconduct involving property allocations in Karnataka and Haryana. He asserted that contracts awarded to government officials’ relatives constitute a clear conflict of interest and called for a probe to ensure compliance with anti-corruption laws and ethical standards.
