India prepares for a five-match T20I series against Australia after the ODI World Cup, with Suryakumar Yadav leading as captain. However, his first press conference saw just two journalists attending, contrasting the massive media presence during the World Cup. Yadav emphasized selflessness and fearlessness, highlighting the importance of upcoming games for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Ahead
of the impending bilateral series between India and Australia post the ODI World Cup 2023, Suryakumar Yadav, renowned for his prowess in T20 cricket,
assumes leadership as the Indian team's captain. However, the excitement
surrounding his captaincy debut was dampened as his inaugural press conference
witnessed an unexpected scarcity of media representation, with only two
journalists in attendance.
Contrasting the bustling media fervour witnessed during the recent ODI World Cup, Yadav faced an unanticipated minimal audience during his maiden address as India's skipper. Despite this subdued start, Yadav emphasized the significance of the upcoming series in shaping India's preparations for the forthcoming T20 World Cup in 2024.

the squad on the eve of the series opener in Visakhapatnam, Yadav stressed the
importance of a selfless and fearless approach on the field. "In view of
the impending T20 World Cup, our performances in these games hold immense
weight. Let's prioritize the team's success and approach every game with
fearlessness," urged Yadav, highlighting the stakes associated with the
series.
While
refraining from disclosing India's wicket-keeper for the series, Yadav
highlighted the competition between Ishan Kishan and Jitesh Sharma. "Both
players have showcased commendable performances, especially Ishan, exhibiting
consistency across different batting positions in tournaments like the Asia Cup
and World Cup. We're on the verge of making a decision," expressed Yadav,
indicating an imminent squad announcement.
