Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis clarified that his deputy, Eknath Shinde, was not upset over the new government’s formation, dismissing speculation about delays or disagreements. Sworn in alongside NCP leader Ajit Pawar as his deputies, the Mahayuti coalition government took charge following a significant victory in the recent state assembly elections.

In an interview, Fadnavis described Shinde as "emotional" and Ajit Pawar as "practical," emphasizing his ability to work cohesively with both leaders. Addressing concerns about Shinde’s role, Fadnavis stated, “There was no anger. Shinde ji acknowledged that since BJP has more MLAs, the Chief Minister should be from our party.” He also noted that Shinde initially considered focusing on building his party but joined the government at his colleagues’ insistence.

Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant confirmed this, stating Shinde relented to party demands to ensure continuity in implementing schemes initiated during his tenure as Chief Minister. However, speculation persists over portfolio allocation, with Shinde reportedly requesting the crucial Home Department. Shiv Sena MLA Bharat Gogavale suggested cabinet expansion discussions are underway, with decisions expected before the winter legislative session starting December 16.

The Mahayuti alliance’s formation reflects political balancing, with Fadnavis highlighting unity amidst diverse leadership styles. He dismissed claims of delays, calling the past 2.5 years a "roller-coaster ride" and praising the coalition's resilience.
