Man sets wife on fire in Nagpur: Wife refuses to come home

Akashana Chafle, the victim, 29, is fighting for her life at the government medical college and hospital (GMCH) in Nagpur. Since then, she hasn't spoken to her husband Rahul. Nearly a year ago, Akashana and her two sons moved to a rented property in Shivnagar, near Parseoni, to escape Rahul's physical abuse, as stated by the Kanhan police.

Rahul arrived at her place on Friday with a petrol can. When Akashana stuck to her strong position that she would not go back with Rahul, things got worse for both of them. Rahul threw a lighter at Akashana, setting her on fire as a way of venting his rage.

Rahul was able to escape as her neighbours came to her rescue and took her to the hospital. Rahul is being sought by the Kanhan division of the rural Nagpur police department. They have enquired of the villagers any knowledge they may have of Rahul's whereabouts in order to ensure Akashana is treated properly.
